Wilder offers a unique program that many other cities cannot match.  During the summer months when school is out, the city opens the basement of the City Building for local children ages 5-16.  The program offers outdoor activities such as kickball, Whiffle ball, and water balloons as well as indoor activies including video games, movies, and arts & crafts.  Field trips to area attractions are also offered 1-2 times a week.  Popular destinations include Coney Island, Great Escape movie theater, Cincinnati Museum Center, and Sunlite Pool.

This is a free service for residents of Wilder.  For a small fee ($50), children outside of Wilder may participate in the program.  The program is open from 11:30 to 4:00, Monday through Friday.  On days of fieldtrips, the City Building will be closed and only children with permission slips will be allowed to go on the fieldtrip.  Transportation for fieldtrips is provided by the Wilder bus and will be limited to 10 children.

It is important to remember that this is not a babysitting service.  Children are allowed to come and go as they please and the recreation staff will not stop them from leaving.  Also, the program closes promptly at 4:00 and the recreation staff will not wait around for parents to pick up their children.

For more information, please contact the City Building at (859) 581-8884.
